October - November Happenings
Classes Schedule
#1. KICK OFF EVENT for SEWING BOWL MONTH – Open Sew.
October 11th – Saturday – 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.
We will be having our “Kick Off Event” this Saturday, October 11th. You are welcome to come anytime between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. for this FREE FOR ALL! That’s right – No Charge! Bring a project that you are working on and join us for lots of Fun, Food (if you bring it!) and great Fellowship! Please call to register – space is limited. Each person is asked to bring a snack type food to share for lunch. Also, please bring your own drinks and they should be in sealed containers or have screw type caps. See you at the 20 yard line!
#2. & #3. THE GAME IS IN THE BAG – Swing Bag.
October 13th – Monday – 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. OR 6 p.m. – 9 p.m.
Class Fee: $10.00 + Supplies
Join the team for a quick purse project that will get you started on gifts for all of your family & friends. So easy and so fun! And…it’s reversible!
#4. & #5. DESIGNER DIAMOND CLASS – Design Shaping
October 16th – Thursday - 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. OR 6 p.m. – 9 p.m.
FREE (if Designer Diamond was purchased at SEW BIZ) + Supplies.
See and learn 1 of the exciting features of this Brilliant Sewing/Embroidery machine! The possibilities are limitless once you learn how easy it is to use this outstanding feature of your Designer Diamond.
#6. FANCY STITCHIN’
October 18th – Saturday – 10 a.m. – 3 p.m.
This is a repeat of a class from last month. We had such a great response to this class and technique, that we have decided to repeat it! Register early. All Brands of Embroidery machines are invited to join us. Designs are 4” x 4”. Get ready for some Fancy Stitchin’! Class Fee: $18.00 + Supplies
#7. & #8. DON’T THROW IN THE TOWEL - Machine Embroidery/Embroidery Applique
October 20th – Monday - 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. OR 6 p.m. – 9 p.m.
We will be making Holiday towels using the Christmas Embroidery Applique Design CD from Dakota Collectibles. This class will be FREE when you purchase the Design CD from SEW BIZ. Sign up for the class, purchase your Design CD and bring 2-3 hand towels and let the fun begin! Bring some fabric scraps or use some of ours for the applique portions of the designs. And…bring a snack to share with the class. Class size is limited – register early! P.S. Don’t forget to bring your Embroidery Threads.
#9. & #10. SEASON’S GREETINGS
October 21st – Tuesday - 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. OR 6 p.m. – 9 p.m.
This is the last class of this Block of the Month Embroidery project. We have had so much fun and for this last session, we would invite you to join us ½ hour early for donuts if you attend the morning session or cheese and crackers if you attend the evening session. You may want to bring your own coffee, tea etc. Cost: $10.00 + supplies.
#11. TAILGATE PARTY
October 24th – Friday – 6 to 11:00 p.m.
This will be an OPEN SEW session so bring what ever projects you would like to work on. And of course, what would a Tailgate Party be without food? Bring snack foods and desserts to this Bowl Party and we will supply the drinks. Class Fee: $5.00
#12. GIFTS GALORE BY OUR SPECIAL TEAMS UNIT – THE SERGER!
October 25th – Saturday – 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.
Bring your serger and we will provide sewing machines for the small bit of sewing. You will make 3 projects using mainly your serger and experience specialty techniques such as the rolled edge, sewing with decorative threads and more. Take this opportunity to learn more about your serger as we make Border Print Pillow Cases, Bun Warmer and Quick Table Scarf. All would make great gifts! Class Fee: $18.00 + supplies
#13. SWEET TEMPTATIONS APRON
November 1st – Saturday – 10 a.m. – 3 p.m.
Aprons are so popular and you will love this one. Complete with a kitchen towel stitched to the waistband as seen in many European Aprons. We have used a border print, but the choice of fabrics is completely up to you! Class Fee: $18.00 + supplies.

#14. MAKE-IT, TAKE-IT DAY – EMBROIDERY MACHINE
November 8 – Saturday 11 a.m. – 3 p.m.
We invite you to join us anytime between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. (last project starts at 2 p.m.) to experience machine embroidery. This FREE project is very useful for all ages. We will embroider a hand towel and then make it into a Microwavable hot water bottle! You will want to make more for quick gifts. This is a great way to experience machine embroidery hands on!

If you are in the BOM and would like to have some assistance with making the borders for the layout option like our BLUE quilt, this is the class for you. Class Fee: $10.00 + supplies
#19. SOFTWARE CLASS – 4D EMBROIDERY EXTRA
November 15th – Saturday – 10 a.m. – 1 p.m.
In this hands-on computer class, you will work with lettering, shaping, creating and combining designs, insert cut jump stitch feature and more.
Class Fee: $15.00 Bring your own computer or watch as we project our computer onto the big screen!

We invite you to join us anytime between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. (last project starts at 2 p.m.) to experience using a serger. This FREE project is very useful. We will be making the BAG FOR ALL BAGS. This bag is great for storing those bags that you get from the grocery etc. You will get to experience the ease of sewing on a serger. You might just want to put one of these machines on your WISH LIST for Christmas!

August - September Newsletter
We have just mailed the newsletter for August and September. Since our website is currently 'parked' at GoDaddy.com, we are going to list the information here for now. The summer has been very busy and we are still wondering exactly how it is that August is already here. I am not ready for back to school, let alone the thought that we are only 5 months from Christmas! I hope that you will enjoy what we have planned for the next 2 months and take advantage of our $5 Gift Certificate for class supplies with each PAID class registration. We would like to encourage you to join us for a class - it is great to learn a new technique and also fellowship with other sew-ers. We always have a great time and we look forward to having you join us!
I would like to take this opportunity to welcome Deb Carey to our staff. Deb joined us in April and attended Viking Convention with us in June. We are excited to have her at SEW BIZ and we know that you will enjoy getting to know Deb. She is going to let me know about this, but I just have to share this with you. As soon as the new Designer Diamond sewing machines arrived, Deb was excited to take one home. Even with the threat of rain, she put the top down on her little red car and stuffed it in so that she could 'play' with it over the week-end. What a woman will do to take home a Diamond??!!
I had intended to post the pictures of the class projects; however, for some reason tonight this site will not allow me to upload pictures. So I beg you to return on Wednesday and hopefully the pictures will be uploaded of the classes and other things going on at SEW BIZ. I am sorry. I have take the pictures, edited them and had them ready to uploaded but Blogger is not happy with something.
